Statues of two bulls and a cross on a rooftop
The image shows the statues of two bulls and a cross placed on the rooftop of a traditional house in Ollantaytambo – a common practice in the Cuzco region of Peru.
The native people in this region believe that the statues of the bull on the rooftop bring wealth and happiness. In addition, they consider the bull a symbol of fertility.
The tradition of placing the statues of the bulls on the rooftop predates the Spanish rule. The native people kept this tradition even after they became Catholic, but inserted a cross in between the statues of the bulls.
